This is the wonderful view from the walk (and climb) up to Beamsley Beacon in North Yorkshire. The whole area is surely the reason for the invention of the word "verdant", and the colours of the heather make a brilliant contrast to the rolling hills that are stiched together in patchwork squares and fade into the distance and over the hills as far as the eyes can see.

This reminds me of my walks in Wimbledon Common. The heather was so beautiful. My dog would bound around in it and get lost. Brings back nice memories.
Oh I love Wimbledon Common. We used to live over that side of London, and we often went for rambles there with a baby in the backpack!
I also think that it looks a lot like Rotarua in New Zealand, with the rolling and uneven green hills. No stone walls out there, but the same overriding green.
